St. Mary and St. Laurence, Cauldon

The Church

The present church was built in 1786 but the parish registers go back to 1580 (There is a transcript for the early period) and a church has probably stood on the site since the 12th century. There is also a noteable gravestone in the churchyard.

Parish Records
Historic records of St Mary and St Laurence, Cauldon have been deposited at Staffordshire Record Office, where they are available for consultation by the public. These include the parish registers of baptisms 1580-1916, marriages 1580-1994 and burials 1580-1992.

A catalogue of these records is available in "Gateway to the Past" (http://www.archives.staffordshire.gov.uk) - the online catalogue of the Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Archive Service. The Archive Service's website (http://www.staffordshire.gov.uk/archives) provides further information on planning a visit to the office to consult records, should you wish to do so.
